Policy on Food and Beverages in the Miller Center

The James W. Miller Learning Resources Center has a food and drink policy to help keep the building clean, functioning at its best, and free from damage to furnishings, materials, and equipment. Miller Center users are encouraged to go to the coffee shop adjacent to the first floor lobby (MC 125) to consume food and beverages.

Food Food is allowed in the coffee shop (MC 125) and faculty/staff/administrative work areas. No food is allowed in other areas accessible to the public, including the library stacks and reading areas, group study rooms, lounge areas, computer workstation areas, service counters, and the extended study room (MC 102).
Beverages Beverages in closable, spill-proof containers are allowed throughout the building. Open cups, cans, and bottles without lids are not allowed. Miller Center users are expected to properly dispose of their beverage containers. Questions regarding whether a beverage container is acceptable can be answered at any Miller Center service desk.
Special Events Refreshments are allowed for meetings and scheduled events in the following areas: B17, B18, B31, 114, 115, 117, 122, 204P, 205, 206, 207, 218, and 310. Meeting and event sponsors are responsible for all cleanup. Refreshments in other areas of the Miller Center require prior approval from the LR&TS Dean’s office.

Consistent with SCSU Student Code of Conduct, possession or consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or drugs in the Miller Center is prohibited. Upon discovery of such behavior, SCSU Public Safety will be alerted and offenders subject to university disciplinary action and/or criminal prosecution
