University Records
The University Archives preserves the official records of, and information
about, St. Cloud State University. Included are theses, catalogs, yearbooks,
and other SCSU publications, as well as records, for example, of the President, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and Administrative Affairs. Finding aids and indexes are available for portions of the
collections and The
University Chronicle student newspaper.
The University Archives also houses
and manages the archives of the state InterFaculty Organization, the
SCSU Faculty Association, the Minnesota Educational Media Organization,
the Minnesota Business Educators, Inc. and the Central Minnesota Libraries
Exchange.
Other Records
The William Lindgren Asian Art Collection
The Lindgren collection contains art and artifacts collected and donated
by a former SCSU faculty member during the years following WWII through
the 1970s. Countries represented include China, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan,
the Philippines and Tibet. Other materials include books, posters and
slides. A complete inventory is available in print.
The Don Boros Theatre Collection
This is a large collection of first edition plays, hundreds of original
playbills, letters, manuscripts, photographs and other theatrical memorbilia.
Boros, an alumnus of SCSU, donated the collection in 1994. A joint venture
by the SCS University Foundation, the Theatre Department, and Learning
Resources, it is to form the nucleus of a theatre research collection.
The Minnesota Authors Manuscripts Collection consists of materials
by and about several authors with ties to central Minnesota and the
St. Cloud area. Each of the authors has signed a donor agreement with
St. Cloud State University and the University Archives. These are ongoing
collections in most instances and others will be added to in the future.
The University Archives is fortunate to have a wealth of material relating to the world-famous author Sinclair Lewis, who was born in Sauk Center, Minnesota. These collections include: Lewis Family Papers, Papers of Ida Kay Comptom, and the Hubert Irey Gibson Collection of Sinclair Lewis. The Gibson collection, containing drafts of the Lewis play/novel The Jayhawker, was gifted to St. Cloud State University in October 2007.
The MEMO Equipment Archive is a collection of early to recently-outdated
audiovisual equipment used in Minnesota Schools and Colleges before
the Internet and microcomputers consolidated audiovisual presentations
into unified, digital-based technologies, all produced and presented
by computer-based equipment. This archive provides the visitor with
a look into the past, where each presentation mode required a separate
piece of equipment, and it provides the seasoned professional with a
perspective by which to appreciate, or, perhaps criticize, contemporary
technologies. |
